Ponsandane Signal Box

This was, when it was built, said to have been the only one with a flat roof in the country; as Mr Bolitho had insisted that it did not spoil his view of the Mount. In my memory, the crossing was protected with two pairs of heavy timber cross gates, which swung across to close off the rails from access, they locked into position until the signals and levers were set in coordination.
I can remember the signal box being there, but I don t recall the roof (I was only a nipper!). Does anyone have a photo of it, I wonder? I can t seem to find any on this new-fangled Interweb thingy...

I have a few pictures, but very rough in the background stuff. My brother is building a model of this stretch of line (or rather two lines then) and so I took a special series of pictures to cover all details and I have given him OS maps of the area back to 1870. If only this or that had been photographed, oh dear. But when a roll of film gave you 8 frames, and it cost money to develop and print, it was all at a premium.

8 frames a roll, eh? I m surprised you didn t ask your friend Mr Daguerre for a discount! laugh# Seriously, I d like very much to see those shots, rough though they may be. I suppose it must have been mid to late 70s when this building was pulled down.
