Treeve made a comment about a telescopic timber framed tower, this was owned by S.W.E.B. was towed to site by a van, then winched up and down by hand winch with a ratchet to stop it from collapsing. It was used for all the Prom lights also all the lights down thro the center of town etc. I know all this because I was an apprentice there from 1960 and did the lights for several years. Scary!! laugh#

I remember being wound up over half way up and someone forgot to throw the catch over the ratchet and it came back down rather fast, coming to a sudden halt, health and safety would have a ball nowadays! laugh#
