Old School Bell Tower

The First National School was built in 1834 on land once owned by Richard Oxnam and his father; they lived in the house now known as Mincarlo/Scranton House. The house and grounds, which stretched right down to the shore, before Coulson s Granary (now Abbey Warehouse) was built, was sold which became owned by the Reverend Thomas Vyvyan. Rev Vyvyan also sold land to the Methodist Connexion who built the Lanyon Chapel off Abbey Street.

I believe the apartmente are called the bell tower. To the left are also now apartments but in the late 60 s were Council Offices.
