The Coldstreamer a sign in the making early 50s by Angus Ellery
I stand corrected if wrong but I believe The Coldstream Guards either owned or had a vested interest in the pub at one time,

Coldstreamer was named in honour of the son .. all the details are in the public house. If no one else has it ready, I have some details here.

the painter Angus Ellery had a son Peter who kept the Tremayne pottery under the market house for years his daughter was better known a Brenda Wooten the much loved Cornish Folk singer

She used to visit our house when my wife was working for her - brought us biscuits from France every time ..

Ye Olde Inn , built in 1895, was renamed The Coldstreamer in memory of Captain Michael Lempriere Bolitho; he was a Coldstreamer; killed in action atOran, North Africa; 8th November, 1942; aged 25 years, following an S.O.E operation on HMS Walney.

Thanks for this information, which I have just discovered. My partner is Angus's grand-daughter. We know of only one of his inn-signs extant, in the Turk's Head there are a number of old signs in the passageway, one of which is his. If anyone knows of any other we'd be delighted to hear of them.
