They always remind me of my childhood when my dad would take my brother and I digging for bait followed by a morning or afternoon fishing off Newlyn Pier. I think the 'hunter/gatherer' that is still within us starts at an early age, the excitement was there of would we find any worms and would we catch any fish? Perhaps this is why people find gambling so attractive - you use a small amount of money as 'bait' hoping to catch and bring home the big 'prize'.
