St Ives.

Looking down the west pier
Built 1894 to serve Carthew and Orange Lane quarries, it seriously affected the launch of the lifeboat, as it blocked off the slipway, which used to run down over the sand embankment. gradually the sand was washed out. A slip was built at right angles, but when the Wharf Road was built it was blocked off, and so launch had to be taken by tractor to Chy an Chy slip; it is all back to common sense again.
