Looking at Richard Oxnam's old house (now Mincarlo and Scranton), and the end of the building that was later re-built as the Benbow (it has Abbey St on it). Left is the shop that later became known as the Chocolate house.
 
@ denanmor. I have references that say it was a pub from the 17th century. When it was altered and turned into a restaurant I cannot say.
 
It was rebuilt with sharpshooter in 1968. All the references I have seen relate to the sale of ale in barrels. None of the census records include anything of a 'pub' nature.
