In most cases, I prefer to use original names; however this is one case where the term Floating Dock has a special meaning in this world, and that is a gigantic structure that actually floats after the ship has entered into its cradles to be literally docked. The new term for such a dock as ours is a Wet Dock (as opposed to a Dry Dock). Floating Dock used to mean a dock where vessels could float at normal High Tide levels, even when the Tide was out.
Many of the reasons as to why research is difficult or even impossible, is because of digitisation of cataloguing systems. Names of people and of Acts, as well as organisations, or addresses, despite all the good intentions, have been incorrectly transcribed in the need for a hurried completion fighting deadlines and costs; I fully understand this, but finding data or documents, by being able to see an original is made all the easier; Thank you.
