It d have to be a post-dated cheque laugh# The mention of a 24-inch cylinder tells me that this refers to the winding engine ( whim ) sited on Skip Shaft at Levant. Now fully restored and in the care of the National Trust, it can be seen working at certain times of the year. If anyone would like to know more, drop me a PM and I ll be happy to oblige.
