White Lion Hotel - Green Market

White Lion Hotel, Green Market, Penzance from Pool and Son., Wine and Spirit Merchant. Does anyone know around when this was taken?
It is a postcard. On the back it says Series of the S.P.T and P.P.C. Co., Glasgow and then the normal stuff about Inland Use and place a half-penny stamp here...

No it only comes down about half an inch - on one side it has This space may be used for printed or written matter for Inland Use Only and on the other side it has Only the Address to be written here then my grandfathers initials C.L.

I have just checked Kelly s directory for 1893 and Pool and Son Wine and Spirit Merchants The Greenmarket Penzance is listed. I hope this is of help. ::15:

Originally Fire Engine (such as are used in steam mine engines) c1810; became Commercial Hotel; in 1893 became White Lion; note the drawing of the sign White Lion Hotel; therefore this photograph is well before 1893. I have a 1925 photo by Lawley of Penzance which has the actual rampant lion over the door, and it is quite different, so that was just drawn on the picture as well.

Have just looked in 1888 Kellys; and Pool and Son, Wine and Spirit Merchant, were then at 97 Market Jew Street
