This has alcides being discharged by Garryowens doesn't she look pretty on the back.. I think it's Penzance because that might be St. Micheals Mount in the background?
As much as I would love to say that this is Penzance, it is not ... The Alcides was a MASSIVE ship, she plied the route to Japan, she was of the port of Hull, where I suspect this picture represents; although we had a handful of steam tugs, there was never anything of that size. We did have a number of large ships that moored in Mount s Bay (off shore) and cargo was taken out and handled at sea. Remarkable picture of a wonderful age. She may well have been a visitor here.
