Does anyone have a photo of Sycamores? I have a friend, another Cornish maid living here in Bermuda, who tells me that one of her family members owned Sycamores way back.
Incidentally, I thought there was a house called the Sycamores just off Alexandra Road which was owned by the Simpsons who owned the shop in Penzance? I believe it is a Doctors office now? Were there two Sycamores?
Alexandra Road 1865
Trewithen Road and Hawkins Road 1881
[William and Monique Maskell were living in 1 Alexandra Place in 1881.
She moved to Sunnyside by 1891.]
From a quick reference to the census, it appears that Hawkins Road houses had not been completed by 1881.
The house which was owned by James S C Simpson was 'Lynwood', Hawkins Road.
He was a Woollen Merchant, born Abingdon Berkshire.
He arrived in Penzance c1865, working for Clarkes of Bristol, I believe.
In 1871 he was at 15 Chapel Street
and 1881 he was at 13 Alma Terrace
Then by 1891 he had moved to Lynwood.
