Home in July 1990

This is where I stayed during my second visit to Penzance in July 1990. Again I don't remember the address, could it have been Penrose Terrace?? I think there was some sort of garden in the back. They had some elderly (maybe I shouldn't write that, but that's how they seemed to me at the time) ladies staying upstairs, while we (the Austrian schoolboys) stayed in the basement. The father of the family was a cook and there were at least two children (I think we actually stayed in their room).
I dont thnk this is Penrose Terrace,,, this looks to me like,,,Clarence Street Pezance, although I could be wrong, Im going by the Architecture,,,,,from the Pig Market top of Causeway head, turn right down that street where the sorting office is, takes you to the Top of Morrab Road.

The style of porch, the inset windows are like those on Penrose terrace or Trewartha Terrace. Clarence Street has taller houses than these and I have no recollection that the house have such elaborate porches. Easy enough to check.

Treeve You caould be right, Im just going from Memory I went to school with a guy who lived in Clarence street, Called Alan Coates (Ralph) He joined the Army after school at Heamoor, a few years later I joined aswell, and we met up again in the same Battalion In Catterick North Yorkshire, what a surprise that was,,, a Small world Sure enough.

It surprises me just how small this world can be on occasion; for my sins, there is barely a street in which I have not been involved over the 40 years of architectural work. My memory can be clouded at times and I often need to check to be sure. duh

Yes Treeve looking at it now I reckon your right its not Clarence Street, remind me just where is Penrose Tce, cant think for the life of me??

near the Railway Station, just beyond the garage site which became a retirement home, etc .... both Penrose and Trewartha Terrace were built by the owner of the owner of Penrose Estate (near Portleven) for his staff and for lease.

Right I m with you now, I know where you mean,,,some of these houses have been turned into flats and bedsits havent they?? Thanks for that TAKECARE NOW!!
