visit to the bishop 1969

B/W from slides, delivery of some goods,a calm day.
Everything required by the keeper for a stint on a lighthouse (was it six weeks?) went across like this including the man. He was responsible for everything - clothes, tobacco, paper and food, especially flour for bread. A Penzance born relief keeper ( not in picture) told me of one Christmas relief he did on the Bishop when going in he and all his stores took a good dip in the sea soaking everything Leaving him without much seasonal cheer.

To get a good idea of the life,a book ,It Was Fun While it Lasted, by A J Lane is a great read, the library should have it.
