Just wondering...if thats co-op then surely the building on the right would be kettles corner not the honey pot?! Or did the co-op used to be next to the honey pot? would love to know only my mum used to own that shop! x
CORNISH BANK, Ltd was a branch bank in Queen Square, Penzance; the main bank was in Truro. In Penzance - William George Dix, manager 7th March 1883; Alfred W. Parks, manager 1885. The building on the Right became roughly speaking where Kettle s Corner now is. The building in the picture is about 1830 and shows on the 1842 Tithe Map; this shows the new bank being built, set back from the original building which was there. When I get a chance I will add some more details.
Interesting to see Manager details by Treeve as the occupier of our Guest House (The Dunedin) was a John Adams who was a branch inspector of the Bank of Cornwall circa late 1800's/early 1900's (info from 1902 Census). The house was privately leased in those days.Regards,John Bolton.
