Penzance Prom Day 1991

Health and safety would definitely not allow this, these days! But twenty years ago you could let children slide off a double decker with only a narrow slip of slide protecting them from the unyeilding slabs of the promenade on either side...
22 September 1991
Your right there! H&S would have a field day, I dont remember this at all, as in the Pz prom day,was this a yearly event or just a one off?

We had problems on site in these unyielding days of early H&S with contractors being told with no intelligence whatsoever that they could no longer do what they had been doing for 25 years before. There were many a job had to be done by myself to "keep the peace" otherwise the work would never have been done. The client was the happier for it. But now, in hindsight, I accept that we now live in a "safer" age. :)

Personally, I think sometimes you need to take risks - it adds to the excitement of being alive. And I bet they got a thrill coming down what almost looks like a vertical drop!

It's not the drop - I wouldn't mind that! It's just if you don't come down perfectly straight you may spin off at the bottom, hitting the pink slabs of the prom at speed and turning them red with your claret! ;)
