These final pictures of the Scillonian 2 prompted me to refresh my memory by looking at the pictures of her and reading the history on “Hearts of Oak”. As a point of interest the cargo doors mentioned in your description of the ship were as I remember them being used in the mid sixties, however I do not see them fitted when delivered in 1956 and I assume they were a later modification. The whole weight of each door was supported by two mild steel pintles, the slight vibration on passage wore away these hinges alarmingly and they required ongoing maintenance between refits.
