The church was built in 1851, by the Reverend Robert Aitken, with some direct regard for mediaeval spirit, Pendeen means Fortified Headland and is the name of the ancient estate of the Borlase family. Dedicated to St. John Baptist. The Parish was formed out of St. Just - in 1846.
