I wish the owner would get get that roof eaves and gutter repaired - just ripe for water entry and dry rot to get a hold. Let alone the over exposure of stonework jointing. A stitch in time saves nine , no longer appears to hold its value anymore. This is exactly why the town is losing its heritage (as well as other factors). I do like the Caldwell s treatement of the ordered rustic.
That is a problem that I was beginning to find with a lot of funding procedures, by the time anything was eventually done, the problem was twice as bad as was first seen. I simply could not cope in modern hands tied behind backs by accountants and hse . In the past, I have actually jumped in and done the job myself on a few sites. Quite out of the question now.
I have to add that there is a growing culture that spends what it will on the unnecessary, and then turns cap in hand for help from the local authority and or EU, etc ... I saw that in a number of clients over the years. As long as we have the three crates of gin and the Merc is full of fuel ..., or we have enough for the 17 foot high drapes, if we shout hard enough at them, they will help us ... It is unfair to expect authorities to dig deep and hard, when most businesses are quite capable of tightening belts and getting it done.
