This guy got caught by a wave which rose up when he thought it was going to be clear across the Abbey Basin slipway! That's the way to get a nice corroded undercarriage as the actress said to the bishop!
Sea water is one of the most corrosive liquids. Never ceases to amaze/amuse me the lengths and expense some go to to save a few seconds. Very well caught ...
Having a porpoisly designed vehicle would remove most of the element of fun, would it not?
It would remove that sense of danger that gets the heart pumping, and the blood flowing, the adrenalin humming in the ears.
Might just as well go home and watch the test card.
That said, I bet it was Daddy's car.
I have been in some very heightened adrenalin rush situations, That said, I have to say I was not at all conscious of the safety measures in place. Like White Water rafting in Poland, down a narrow and very high gorge, where the eyes are conscious only of the rush of water, the cliff faces at all angles, appearing to be falling towards me, the fact that at any time water drops from under the boat ... This was NOT a blow up boat, it was a solid timber boat, so could disintigrate at any moment.
The driver wasn't exactly being a daredevil. When he came down the slip opposite, there was a total momentary recession of the waters but he got his judgment and timing all wrong and a wave struck the wall of the path and then caught him with its backlash just as he arrived at the end. Actually, I had been hoping to see the waves catch two http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxpt484YYGB nonchalant girls with calculated bravado who were standing chatting, one with her back to the waves. In the end I was disappointed as all she got was a mere licking of a spent wave at her heels!
