Doris.K - 6

Nearly on her 'spot'. This operation is complicated by the fact of the reduced draught available, as there are two sets of keel blocks to match the profiles of two very different vessels. When water levels reduce, the vessels have to both settle evenly and on their respective block sets; this was complicated by the fact that works had to be done prior to this outside the dock gates earlier that afternoon. Block runs were being laid as the tide was coming in against the dock gates, water was entering and rising with men standing in the water.
Magnificent piece of coordination and work under pressure.

As usual a nice set of photos Treeve. As you say they did have problems with the blocks, so as not to disturb them too much, only one pump was used to empty the dock, if they used two, the speed at which water would be moved would also move the blocks. By the time they were sitting on the blocks and all the props were set it was nearly midnight.
