Twenty five of the thirty one DOE award winners in 1961. Front row are gold award winners. M.J. Quick, centre front row, received his award from the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace and was the first Cornish grammar school pupil to win such an award direct from his school. The other eight in the front row received their gold awards at a ceremony in St. James’ Palace, London.
