Egret

September 2008; the bird came within eight feet of me - I sat still as possible, not even a movement of the camera; she walked across view without a qualm.
Seen a lot of these lately very close by the causeway to the Mount. They re great little graceful birds and only a couple of decades ago, you would have gasped to see these in the locality!

They normally like estuaries, with trees for cover and nesting. Nearly three years ago, and injured one found food here, I was watching it - maybe attacked by a black back gull. Then another one came to visit, and another - three now are regulars to the Harbour and the Promenade. I wondered if they were from Loe Bar, Porthleven. They are quite fascinating and beautiful to watch.

I have a feeling i mentioned this before that once, some years ago while strolling along the esplanade in Roscoff, I saw a headland in the distance covered in a wood of pines. In turn the treetops were completely white and, looking through my bins, I saw there were hundreds of egrets perched on the trees like the herons do in small numbers on the pines behind Marazion Marshes..

Not a dicky bird have you said ( a clear case of false deja vu) ... The estuary of Looe is white with egrets as well.
