Fore Street

So the top shop is closed too, it was a Cornish gift shop the last time I was home. I lived in Fore Street from the age of 2 til I married. The street is so quiet now, it was a hive of shops when I was a child, most gone now.

This is still a shop, Diane. I can t recall exactly what business is in there now though, sorry.

Pleased to hear that Chill, not a lot going on in the street these days.

I think Bygones the antique business used to be in this shop but it moved further down on this side. There has also been a stained glass workshop and gallery in there in recent years but it has changed again recently.
Fore Street, like much of church town, has galleries but, if I recall correctly, there s also a pharmacist, hardware and pet-supplies shop, delicatessen, dvd shop, garage, charity shop and of course The Star. I ll try to find time to take a set of photos next time I m there.

When I was a child the top shop used to be a grocery shop, and wool shop next door. When I was home in the 80s it was a mini supermarket. My daughter used to love to go up there chat, she was only 8 and had an Australian accent which made her very popular. It would be nice to see some photos of the street as it is now. My brother is a Pendeener now, so he doesn t spent much time in St Just. I ll be going home next year, in October and staying in a cottage near St Just church, we ll be celebrating out 40 th wedding anniversary, really looking forward to catching up with everyone.

You'll have noticed I failed to take any pictures at Feast. As it was Herself's 60th birthday at the same weekend I was rather preoccupied and on the wrong coast too.
Not many opportunities now or more pictures before you are there yourself. I'm sure you'll have a great time. There's plenty of life in the old town yet.
