Halls/Wright

Halls had produced the first true Stockless anchor in 1886; it was improved by Joseph Wright, and approved by Lloyds in 1923; this anchor on Newlyn centre pier was also found during its construction. Until this time, they were of cast iron, and then steel came to be used more. This anchor is one of the Halls/Wright design and they were used on Liners and larger cargo vessels, it may even have been one of the anchors of the Cretehill, the concrete ship used in Newlyn harbour as a coal depot, she came here in 1928.
