Hands Up !!

... all those that wanted to see a picture of the cannon ....
I had some of my kids on this, and somewhere are pics of us kids, taken by my parents; a French cannon, on a Spanish ship, captured by the Dutch in c1635, came into Mount's Bay, lost on rocks; gun brought up in 1916, set up here, and later nicked by greedy morons. Talk about pearls before swine. Set in front of the Library in Morrab Road.
Thanks for this picture....it is very sadly missed as Penzancemaid has quite rightfully said

I agree, I m a little older now but I remember sitting on it when a child. Thanks for good memories, and I hope the ones who nicked it suffer the pains of............................. :-x :-x ;)

Yes, I too remember this very fondly as one of those features of Penzance with which I grew up. More than once though, this cannon suffered, seemingly at the hands of drunken vandals, before it vanished completely. In comparatively recent times, a French yacht and its crew stole one of the cannons on St Michael s Mount overnight, I am told.
