How Very Cheap

How Very Cheap - Ludlow Ship Brokers transported miners to America and South America - Edmund James Ludlow (Teddy) who ran the other agency in Limerick even booked people onto the Titanic (I have documentary evidence) - as yet I've found no evidence of the shop in Penzance doing the same - but I'm sure I will!
What an incredible rhyme and a fine piece of custom drumming. £3 = about a tenth of the yearly wage, I think - I could get more accurate figures if I go though my notes, I am sure.

Quite likely transported my great-grandfather, great-great-uncle, three great uncles and grandfather amongst many others on their many journeys to the mines of the world.

Ditto they didn t stop at transporting people they didn t know they also sent relatives to work in the burgeoning mining industry in Mexico and New Zealand.

I think it is a wonder that as well as your great collection of photographs you have so much information about the subjects and context. Many of the older photographs in my family collections mean nothing to me and will never mean anything to any one else either now. My late mother did her best to make notes but that was rather a late start for many of them. Thank you so much for bringing your great collection here.

I m lucky as my father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-grandfather not only collected but did document some of this stuff. The majority of the photos sadly are like yours difficult to place and that s why sites like these are so good as others can make suggestions. I ve already learnt things I didn t know.
