My wife and I once found a duckling (a lot smaller than these), completely waterlogged and sinking, left behind as its family were swimming off in the distance. I put my hand into the river and it struggled over and climbed aboard my palm. We took it home but neither the RSPCA or RSPB were that interested. So, I built a small pen in our garden and we nursed it back to health. After about a couple of months we managed to find someone to take it on - they had land and kept chickens so our duck went to live with them. We made them promise it wouldn't be eaten! The pen they had had no 'roof' so when the duck got older, it would fly off and join other ducks on a nearby river - but it would come back to the pen in the evening. While we had it, we spent many a happy evening sitting outside with it - happy memories. And perhaps, not surprisingly, neither of us has eaten duck since - though I still do get cravings for Chinese crispy duck in pancake rolls!
Well done you Tabtab, I stopped beside some water just to see if there was anything worth snapping, these little beauties couldn't get out of the water fast enough to come to me. As for not eating duck anymore, well it's down to personal taste, I mean, I have a Labrador, but i still eat dog occasionally ha ha ha............................................NO I DON'T!!!!
