Bank House, Hugh Street.
The front appears to date from around 1720,
perhaps the house itself even earlier.
I have now found an earlier picture of the front.
It seems to have been re-faced in 1930.
To me the most important house in Hugh Town.
It was the home of my Great Grandfather Thompson c1890.
Archibald Thompson descends from the Thompsons of the Clan Campbell of Argyll.
They came to the Isles of Scilly long before the Massacre.
Clan Chiefs were traditionally named Archibald, so,
it seemed fitting to my great great grandparents to have given that name.
This house remained with the family for many years after.
I stayed in here at one time with my great aunt and uncle.
