Lyonesse
Along The Strand may be seen many cottages that relate to the shipbuilding industry. The large Holgate's Hotel stood on the shoreline of Town Beach from around 1890; it was demolished in c1974 (in 1902 all traces of shipbuilding had been removed) to create the present grassed area. Opposite this are two buildings of especial note, the three storeys of Lyonesse and the Star of the Sea.
Lyonesse was built before 1760 and was finished with stucco c1830.
