Geevor Mining Museum complex. 20/01/10 - With cassiterite (tin ore) in the lodes are sulphide minerals which would contaminate the tin but for a laborious process of burning them away in furnaces: calciners. A Scot, Thomas Brunton, pioneered a more efficient way used latterly at Geevor.
