Ingelfield

A further development of the Martin's Anchor was undertaken by Admiral Inglefield and was introduced 1915. The anchor was used up until 1966 when a further improvement was made in the design. This anchor on Newlyn centre pier was retrieved from the harbour when the harbour was being excavated for the new works in building the pier. It is impressed with the Admiralty Mark; it is therefore off a naval warship, the last of which was during WWII. My estimate for the date of this anchor would be no later than 1920, when the Halls/Wright anchor was approved in 1923.
