Lariggan Brook outfall - 1

November 2008
The side concrete path from the bottom of the steps; this was covered with shingle to a depth of over 3 feet, the handrail was barely above the shingle at its lowest point. Whilst being no great hardship for a young couple to negotiate down the steps with a pram/pushchair, it is a hazard for a single person with that same pushchair. There are no notices for pedestrians or cyclists as to the fact it would be easier to walk through the garden area to exit the end of this Promenade extension. There are however steps down to the gardens. I have seen any number of people with pushchairs and older persons stop at the top of the steps to turn back. The pathway here is becoming covered again, by shingle. It will no doubt encroach further. I do not have a problem, myself, but there those that do. The alternative route should be marked.
Too many projects are the result of ill considered schemes, flash answers, patch-ups, with no actual regard for purpose or for the residents and visitors ... unless it is to do with road traffic. Even then I observe the end result is disruption and discontent.
