Limpet Life

As seen down on Larrigan Rocks. Fairly barnacle free compared to many there. Limpets living on bare rock grow slowly, but may live for around 15 years. If food is abundant, they grow faster but may only survive 2-3 years - according to the BBC Science web site page.
Saw a programme a few years back where this guy got a few of these and pan fried them...wonder what they taste like?

Pretty strong I reckon --- staple diet years ago...
only one way to find out though. If we see a plume of smoke on the sea shore, it is a limpet jamboree.

Yes, I saw them being cooked on a beach on tv too. I think the secret was to cook them quick else they ended up like rubber bungs - and just as chewy!

@TT13....we picked limpets and winkles when we were kids..I believe my Mum cooked them
until they left the shell...with a little pepper and malt vineger were quite tasty, we used a pin
to eat the winkles...childhood memories !!
