By kind arrangement with Simpsons this was photographed from their first floor window.
It appears this is limestone, rather than marble, as described by Valentine Le Grice.
Either way it is in a poor condition, not properly weather protected, and it is 207 years old.
To be blunt, after near 400 years, I would have expected better of a society that should be developing, rather than decaying.
