Market Place 1925

A section of a 1925 Robert Preston photograph, taken for Frederick Drewitt; with G B Drewitt's permission, I rescued it from re-cycling, it is in my collection. Here is Chirgwins, Mortimer's Cleaners, an older Bon Marche, Howards Seed and Pet Food (Vote for Cory), Henry Lawry ironmonger and Peasgoods. Further down is Trelawney butcher, Bailey's restaurant, Three Castles Inn and The Post Office. A rare shot. It also shows an incident in the street, where a van is stopped, a car has just swerved in front.
Great Picture, such an unusual angle. Don t think it was that dramatic, just a van delivery and a very early version of bad parking!!! laugh# laugh#

It s my guess the two bods standing outside Chirgwins have got out of the two vehicles for a chat. The angle was chosen to get a good overall view of the completed Lloyds Bank, I will post the whole picture later.
