Mission.

Anyone been inside here????
The Sailor s Institute designed by Oliver Caldwell 1916; recently converted into flats.

I have, in the 80 s (when mostly derelict) it was an exchange student night club... love the Germans :)

Yep, been inside in the late 70 s when it was a student club. It was called Bricent in those days, even played a gig with my band for the students too!!!!

I went in there in the early seventies when it was, I think, called The British Centre . There was a party hosted by some students learning English as a foreign language who, I think, either stayed or studied there or both.

I too have been inside this building in the early 70`s. Evo`s right it was called Bricent, I remember it had a huge swirling staircase.
My parents used to host foreign students from there.

I would enter this building every week from about 1959 until 1966 as a boy scout and senior scout. One of its lower rooms was the home/ Group H.Q. of the Ist Penzance Senior Scouts, Scouts and Cubs in those days, and we d spend the second half of every meeting in the large echo-ey hall at the top, to finish off with patrol games and races and parties.

Watched Evo play there with big brother on bass. I think the band was called Banned It . Iseem to remember the acoustics were awful, but then it was not built to appreciate the sound of heavy rock.

Agreed! I remember the dreadful echo of kids voices in the hall upstairs when we played scout games and relays! duh
