One of my favourite birds, a cousin of the crow, but highly intelligent, a master of the air and plenty of inquisitiveness. Their behaviour and highly complex communication is learned between social groups. This one obviously got the answer to the old one 'where do I go to get felt?' and found this sheet. Stripping it down for nesting material, it was more than reluctant to leave it to the vagaries of the breeze. In the same group as magpies, jackdaws have the same bounding gait, nigh comical; their plumage is all blues and rich purple ( in shade it all appears grey and black).
