Ah yes Treeve, but all these things cost. Not excusing them for one iota, but I used to run a now defunct Welsh maintenance company branch out of Helston and the prices tendered for each contract was so cut to the bone that the management were asking me to put in for payment to Councils for repairs done to voids , which had not even been started. When I realised what they were up to I left, shortest job in my life!!! laugh# laugh#
Quite - there was more than one occasion when we had to deal with an irate contractor who had offered a tender, which was clearly way under what it should have been, and it was rejected on the basis that it was priced improperly and would cost more to the client and ourselves as a result. No one has principles, it appears, anymore. It is all run buy mindless accountants and budget stretchers. What happened to quality and service?
Quality? Service? C mon Guv give a bloke a chance, I mean, well, we got all them furriners to deal wiv. An well we gotta make a bob or two . Thas right innit?? :-x :-x
Eons ago I worked for the real Cornwall County Council. We always had to fill in our timesheets (do they still have them??) in pencil so that the bosses could alot our working days to whatever budget they wanted. We did not care as we were working. I wonder if this practice is still running today.
Tell you what though, roads were cleaner, blocked drains were cleared straight away and there was always a friendly wave from the STOP/GO board man.
