Old Wreck

This reminds me of the Suevic incident when she was wrecked. To get her off the rocks she had to be literally blown apart, and her aft section was salvaged and re-used; Dry docks of this size are few and far between - I would suggest Falmouth for the location. I can look into this ship picture, if you like.

This looks remarkably as if it is the Suevic (sister to Runic), wrecked Maenheere Rocks 17th March 1907; re-built and in service 1908; sold off and converted as Skytteren; eventually lost in 1942 in Operation Performance.

I have just found my picture of the Suevic, after she had been blown apart by the salvage team, and it is precisely this ship; she was taken to Southampton for re-building, they must have done a good job for her to have lasted so long afterwards, as she had to be deliberately sunk by her crew to prevent her getting into enemy hands (German forces had tried to capture her by shelling and bombing). So there you are .... The Suevic - White Star Line; it is quite probable that there were passengers involved locally on that ship.
