The site of this pitch and that of the Mousehole Football Club is over what was the old Trungle (tre + meungleth (Homestead + quarry) = Treveungleth = Trungle. There was an ancient quarry in the vicinity apparently. In fact, at a far later stage, a layer 15 feet thick of quarried stone from Penlee Quarry was dumped there to created the pitches.
