Penlee Park pond shoot in 2005

Thank you for that ... it is heartening to see the old stone basin. What HAVE they done to this little treasure, all that is left is the lion head and the oval stone. The trickle pond has been flattened. This is idyllic. It feeds from the Alverton Well by the way (or rather it should).

I was saddened when I first saw the improvements carried out here - the removal of the granite surround is a travesty and as for the stonework...no, don t let me get started on that one :-x

I have not seen any decent stone work of late; I am more and more convinced that no one knows just how to select stone, or bed it or bond it anymore; just what happens to stonework that is removed? Whenever I was in charge of a contract that had old stone, it was removed carefully and re-used again, having taken record photos to get it the way it was. I despair.

I have posted up the picture as it is now in my Grouse Season section; people like Dr Borlase would be spinning in nausea if they saw it now.
