So much publicity and concern is shown in this age over the loss of shopping outlets over the fact of 'running on empty', a life of empty promises. It is forgotten as to the great and horrific loss of going concerns of large businesses and industries that had been the stable flow of income and of employment that took hold in previous times in Cornwall. This building used to be such a private business (not a part of a vast confused conglomerate), Reynold's Egg Packing Factory, Perranuthnoe. I worked on this conversion into flats. So many worked here previously, a happy and industrious community (I met most of them) - lost and gone forever. Replaced by a property once sold, has little in the way of employment afterwards, and certainly has no community spirit about it, compared with the lively and cheerful life before.
