prior to WW2 the fire staion was across the street, Borough Policemen were also firemen, they had a Dennis fire engine with solid tyres and spoked wheels

I think it was Jervis Barclay of Trelawney Garage who was was the fire engine driver they changed the wheels around the start of WW2, when ever there was an air raid alarm a fire engine was always positioned at Trelawney garage
