Polwithen House was built c1870 for William Bolitho. The estate was sold 1905 to Clements Inn Safe Deposit and Contract Co; The house became The Riviera Palace Hotel; extended 1916 by Oliver Caldwell, and became a girls' school 1918. The estate was laid out by Cowell, Drewitt and Wheatly in 1905 and plots sold and developed. Amongst the drawings, there are these photographs. The House from the grounds 1905.
