Polwithen House was built c1870 for William Bolitho. The estate was sold 1905 to Clements Inn Safe Deposit and Contract Co; The house became The Riviera Palace Hotel; extended 1916 by Oliver Caldwell, and became a girls' school 1918. The estate was laid out by Cowell, Drewitt and Wheatly in 1905 and plots sold and developed. Amongst the drawings, there are these photographs. A wooded walk in the grounds 1905
