-
ex PORTREE (I) which operated Kyle to Kyleakin between 1951 and 1965.
The confusion arises because when the PORTREE (II) was introduced to Kyle, PORTREE (I) was renamed PORTREE II.
1965 - Sold to Gerald A Lee of Belfast
1967 - Sold to Harwich Navigation Company
1968- Commenced service on a private ferry between Orford and Orford Ness
From 1974 she was owned by the Secretary Of State.
From discussions on SN, it appears there has been some confusion over this vessel and her history, due to renaming in Scotland; It would appear that she was built in 1951, not 1965; I am hoping that the whole story can eventually be cleared.
