I like the Lion carving just left to the name, I wonder if that is still here today?

I think it may be. Treeve has a very similar feature in the Four favourite details of Penzance page of his website. I can t be certain that is the same one though.

Wow, I had forgotten that one ... I feature some of Caldwell and Perkins buildings here as well. The Lion feature was a particular design by Mr Perkins, a master joiner and carpenter; you will see this on Stewart s Buildings as well, besides others in town.

Oh yes! I hadn t noticed those on Stewart s Buildings. I just posted a couple of photos of same (not appeared yet) and didn t notice that motif repeated.

In some cases, the lion motif has not been used, but the rope motif persists. Look Out, there s a Perkins about.
