Salvage vessel Barnet

Ashore Mounts Bay 1948
The Barnet usually tied up on the Albert Pier. One evening in a storm, at high tide, the force of the wind broke the moorings and she drifted across the harbour to get a severe battering on the wall in front of the Gasworks.
Great excitement, but in the event, I think, no real damage was done. However the sound of the ship grinding against the quay I remember to this day.
 
That's sad. Love this picture, though. First time I've seen it. Good to see the view across from Marazion/Long Rock to Newlyn too.
