Yes this is Abbey basin in Penzance.... near where you boarded the Scillonian. The wreck has since been removed. I m sure that Treeve will fill in the blanks as to what the wreck was and how it got here. laugh#
That would take a bit of searching - it looks like it is a breaker of a Newlyn fishing vessel; I will go back through the Fishing Vessel registers, the scrapping of a vessel will be obvious. 1989 was the year when the registers went over to the Blue Book system, later to be transferred to purely digital records.
I guess it is possible. The prow profile is a good clue, needs checking - Right, well it is a high prow, but it seems to be rather sharp on the stem; lightships generally have wide rounded stems; Maybe the Holman archives will hold out some information.
Please compare to my photo of the same wreck: Home > User galleries > denanmor > Around Penzance2 4/15 ::6: It was there a good couple of months i think.
denanmor: Whoa, I think I ve even looked at your picture before but did not realise that it is the same wreck. ::17:::12: It is weird that we took a picture of the same subject the same month.
